Tomorrow night’s Orange Stampede Rodeo and Ute Muster will give as many as 3000 residents a rare chance to see man go up against angry beasts with thoroughly intimidating names like Johnny Horn and Off The Chain.
The chance to see wannabe bull riders shown who’s boss by a hulking bull is just one of the reasons rodeos draw a crowd, Stampede Rodeo Promotions managing partner Steve Izod said yesterday.
“Bull riding is a dangerous sport and is gripping for people to watch,” he said.
“These are all bulls that compete throughout Australia, some of the best.
“It’s one of those things you can’t help but look at and appreciate.
“In the United States of America it is absolutely huge, these events regularly attract 20,000 to 30,000 people.
“We’ve got some bulls coming to Orange that the Americans aren’t even able to ride.”
The event will be family friendly and will include children’s entertainment, a mechanical bull and pony rides, Mr Izod said.
“It will be action packed the whole way through,” he said.
“There will be no standing around, it will be action from the beginning to the end.”
Liquor can be purchased at the event. Mr Izod said troublemakers would be thrown out.
“We will have a zero-tolerance policy and there will be plenty of security who will not put up with any rubbish whatsoever,” he said.
“The minute there is a problem they will be shown the gate.”
The gates of the Orange Showground open at 2pm while the rodeo starts at 7pm.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children under 15 years or $70 for a family.
