IT isn’t often you see a school full of children on the weekend, but Orange High School’s auditorium was packed yesterday as students prepared for their annual school concert.
Head teacher of creative and performing arts Chris Mickle said the concert continued to grow each year.
“It just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger,” Mrs Mickle said.
“We have close to 200 kids performing this year.”
The concert will feature at least six dancing ensembles, six rock bands as well as acrobatics, circus skills, magic and drama.
“The concert will reflect the different activities we do up here at the school,” Mrs Mickle said.
However, coordinating a performance with 200 students isn’t an easy task.
“It’s the production that’s hard; all the stuff on the side and the movement, because so many classrooms are taken up already for dressing-rooms,” Mrs Mickle said.
“We are really going to start to have production meetings beforehand now.”
The concerts will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week at 7pm at the school’s auditorium.
Tickets are available from the school’s front office, with the 1pm matinee performance tickets available at the door.
“The night has something for everyone,” Mrs Mickle said.
