Scott is this year's recipient of the Country Women's Association (CWA) Central West Group Scholarship and was presented with the award at a ceremony last week.

The $500 scholarship is given to an apprentice with Central West Group Apprentices (CWGA) who displays commitment to his or her trade, excellence in training and good interpersonal skills.

CWA Central West Group president Margaret Brown said apprentices usually used the scholarship to further their career in some way, by purchasing equipment or undertaking further study.

“Something to help them with their chosen career,” she said.

Scott works mostly maintaining Orange General Cemetery but has been called on to help with other projects in the city's parks.

“Scott is a very easy-going person and fits in well with the other teams,” Orange City Council city presentation manager Nigel Hobden said. “No task is too difficult for him to lend a hand.

“I hope there's an opportunity for us to hang on to Scott when he finishes his apprenticeship.”

CWGA marketing manager Simon Fraser also presented CWA members with an honour board to record the names of scholarship winners to mark the 10th anniversary of the scholarship.
