In four years, the event has raised $25,000 for local charities including Ronald McDonald House, Anson Street School and the Orange branch of The Spastic Centre.
Those behind the event were recognised for their work yesterday, receiving Orange’s Community Event of the Year award.
“So much hard work goes into all of these runs,” Orange Runners Club secretary Jane Fairgrieve said.
“It’s wonderful to be recognised, it’s a great feeling.”
The annual festival requires runners to get sponsorship for a five, 10 or 21 kilometre run (half marathon).
Mrs Fairgrieve, who runs the half marathon, said all of the money raised was used to help others.
“All of the proceeds we make are donated to the charities we choose to support,” she said.
The next running festival, the proceeds of which will go to CareWest’s day program, will be held on March 6.
