In fact Mr Jones, the son of Orange City Council councillor Neil Jones, said the couple would like to pursue a media career after the finale of the series airs on the Nine Network Sunday night.
“We’ve both enjoyed the TV and media side of this and we know it’s hard [to get into] but we both love a challenge,” Waz said.
“We’re not sure how it’s going to go but were prepared to work hard.”
Yesterday the pair participated in a question and answer session at The Sun Herald Home Show in Melbourne where they fielded a host of tricky questions including when Waz would propose to Ms Porter.
“There were a few curve balls from the audience... but it was lots of fun,” he said.
Waz said he hoped the advice he gave fans of the show was enough to inspire other people to attempt a renovation project.
“I loved speaking confidently to people about how they can tackle a renovation,” he said.
However, the couple’s plans to renovate an investment property or pursue a media career will be put on hold until next year.
“For the rest of the year Polly and I will just put our feet up and turn our phones off,” he said.
Waz said no matter what happens during the show’s final the couple have been thrilled with both the way they’ve been portrayed on the show and the support they’ve received.
“We feel flattered and honoured to have had so many great supporters out there, we just want to say thank-you to everyone,” he said.
