THE Orange Ex Services Club has purchased the empty PCYC building in Sale Street but will not reveal what it intends to do with the latest addition to its property portfolio.
The sale of the building is being finalised after the PCYC vacated the premises last month following the completion of a multi-million dollar redevelopment of Anzac Park.
It’s understood the Byng Street building will most likely be demolished to make way for an expansion of the Templers Mill Motel, however in a statement released yesterday, Orange Ex-Services Club chief executive officer Cameron Provost said the club had “no immediate plans to develop the site”.
“The club’s board of directors has identified the property as a key parcel of real estate in Orange,” Mr Provost said.
“The board believed this purchase will help facilitate the growth and expansion of the club and its associated entities.”
The Orange Ex-Services Club and the Orange PCYC have agreed not to disclose the terms or sale price of the property.
The purchase agreement is expected to be finalised by the end of July, Mr Provost said.
Under a contract with Orange City Council, the Orange PCYC needed to contribute in the order of $2 million to be able to be a part of the Anzac Park venture.
In May last year Orange Ex-Services Club president Peter Single said the club had plans to purchase the PCYC property because of the impact of decreased revenue.
The club recently sold the historic town hall building on the corner of Anson and Byng Streets to OCTEC Incorporated.
