WITH the NRL season due to start soon, the Central Western Daily’s footy tipping competition is getting set for another year of friendly rivalry.
During last year’s competition 27 Orange businesses and groups signed up to take part in the popular contest.
Last year’s winner was a group from OCTEC, which scored a weekend for two people with premium tickets to the grand final in Sydney and two nights’ accommodation.
Susie Plumptre said taking part in the competition for the last four years encourages a lot of friendly rivalry in their office.
“It creates interaction within the staff ... it was great fun,” she said
They had no strategy to winning the competition according to Mrs Plumptre and incorporated their own office tipping competition into the CWD’s one.
She said around 14 employees took part, with the winning employee’s name drawn out of an office hat draw.
It was OCTEC employee Karen Gerke who won and said she and husband Rob celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary during their winning weekend.
She said being part of the competition was great, “it makes it more interesting and the banter around the office is great”.
Set to kick off on March 2, businesses or groups are invited to take part at a minimal weekly cost of $41.
This year’s first prize is a grand final weekend for two in Sydney with premium tickets to the game and two nights’ accommodation included.
