ORANGE Botanic Gardens will be alive with the sound of music tonight as Orange Regional Conservatorium (ORC) trials its new stage while performing Jazz in the Gardens.
The need for the permanent outdoor stage has arisen following the huge success of ORC’s Music in the Gardens, which never fails to draw a large yet relaxed crowd.
The new stage will be placed in a different position to March’s Music in the Gardens, so tonight’s concert will allow the musicians and audience to see whether the placement of the permanent stage will be suitable.
Staff at the ORC are hoping the stage, which will be funded by Orange City Council, will increase the number of outdoor musical performances in Orange.
“We would love to see more outdoor concerts”, ORC events manager Holly Manning said.
“They have the best atmosphere.”
Factors that need to be taken into account before confirming the stage’s permanent location include the amount of shelter it will provide for performers and audiences as well as safety and acoustics.
Tonight’s performance will beheld from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Tickets are $8 for adults while children under 16 are admitted free.
