A PROPOSED solar farm at Manildra has received a setback after being over looked for federal funding.
But the company responsible hasn’t given up hope just yet.
Infigen Energy had applied for funding under the federal government’s Solar Flagships program, which saw $1.5 billion committed to developing four large-scale solar power stations.
The Manildra project had been shortlisted for funding in May last year but was left out when successful projects were announced on the weekend.
General manager for development, David Griffin, said the announcement was unfortunate but it didn’t mean the end for the Manildra solar farm.
“No, it’s definitely not an end to the project but it will impact on our time line,” he said.
“We’ll be going back and revisiting how we’re going to fund that project.”
He said the company would look at all options and they may include an application under round two of the program.
“We will look at alternatives but I can’t really discuss those at the moment,” Mr Griffin said.
He said the four solar sites put forward by Infigen for funding were the most advanced and economically viable sites in the country.
He said the company was looking forward to feedback about what went wrong.
“We will be eager to hear from the government what drove that decision,” he said.
