Firefighter injured in farm blaze

04 Nov, 2009 07:49 AM
A firefighter was injured and two farm buildings suffered extensive damage following a fire on a property at Forest Reefs on Monday evening.

Eight local Rural Fire Service (RFS) units from Millthorpe, North West and Springside attended the scene and several firefighters were equipped with breathing apparatus.

The RFS was responding to a triple O call from a neighbouring property at 6.25 p.m.

TENS of thousands of dollars worth of damage was caused to both a large shearing shed and an adjacent steal-framed shed.

Farm equipment housed in one of the sheds was also damaged.

Yesterday morning police investigators declared the area a crime scene and forensic investigations were underway in order to determine the cause of the fire.

The firefighter was being treated for smoke inhalation and was in a stable condition yesterday afternoon.
