KATE Trudgett may be a tough rugby player, but the idea of spilling blood off the field make her a little nervous.
Ms Trudgett is just one of the Emu Chicks Women’s Rugby Union Team who spent Thursday evening donating blood.
With many team members wanting to donate blood but not game enough to do it alone, the team decided to go and support one another through the experience, as well as give something back to the community.
“Because of the blood shortage, and that there are a lot of colds and flu going around keeping regular donors away, we thought we should do something to show we are trying to help the community,” Ms Trudgett said.
While these women may look intimidating on the field, Ms Trudgett admits that they are not so tough when it comes to donating blood.
“Even though we are football players we are still scared,” Ms Trudgett said.
“It is the first time for three of us, I don’t know if I will faint.”
